About nine months ago, Gary got me Publisher, to fulfil my desire to create my own note pages. The reason I wanted to do this was two-fold. Firstly, I wanted to create pages which were very specific to what we were learning. Secondly, I wanted to be able to share something with you, my readers, which could help you in your home school endeavours. But could I master it? Unfortunately, I could not! Oh my goodness, it was SO frustrating that I ended up giving up. A few months later, Gary decides to take the clan to see their cousin playing in a football match in London, giving me almost a whole day to play about with Publisher. And I did it!! I truly did it! Today, I made a Life of Fred: Butterflies Review Booklet:
Further more, I changed it from a publisher document into a downloadable pdf file! Yay me! I can’t tell you how excited I am 🙂 The world is my oyster! I can make note pages!!
Introducing Life of Fred: Butterflies Review Booklet
Sometime next week, I will be posting about my younger girls’ time learning maths from Life of Fred: Cats. In fact, I was writing it this morning when I realised that I hadn’t given them any revision of Butterflies, the book before Cats. Because of this, I decided to have another go at making my very own, printable revision booklet for Butterflies…
The booklet is eleven pages long and contains a little of everything covered in Life of Fred: Butterflies. Because it’s my first ever printable and I am soooo excited, I thought I’d take you through page at a time.
Life of Fred: Butterflies Review Booklet: Pages One to Four
You can see the first four pages in the photo above. Page One contains some simple butterfly addition and subtraction; Page Two covers counting by fives and sets; Page Three has a few time questions and an exercise counting in twos; Page Four tests the student’s understanding of yards, feet and inches.
Life of Fred: Butterflies Review Booklet: Pages Five to Eight
You can see the next four pages in the photo above. Page Five checks your student’s understanding of collinear points using stars, as well as making triangles and squares; Page Six is a colourful page measuring the wingspan of butterflies using the ruler below; Page Seven is all about counting coins and skip counting twos, fives and tens and Page Eight is about using the cardinal number of a dozen.
Life of Fred: Butterflies Review Booklet: Pages Nine to Eleven
You can see the final three pages in the photo above. On Page Nine there is a short story for either the parent or the child to read with lots of cardinal and ordinal numbers highlighted in red. The student then must differentiate between the two; Page Ten contains lots of shapes for the students to mark off the perpendicular lines and their resulting right angle as well as a memory jogger for another word for perpendicular lines (orthogonal lines) and finally, Page Eleven contains a list of addition and subtraction facts to ten, along with a number line, to give students lots of practice. Furthermore, you could also laminate them and use them over and over….. your child will be delighted!
Can you tell how proud I am of myself?! And it was so much fun, I can definitely see lots more home made note pages in my future 😉
