Precious Moments

I am having lots of fun at the moment, going through the entirety of my blog and filling up the header categories with any relevant posts. I have completed 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017. It has been so interesting, not to mention joyful, to look back on these years. What has struck me the most is the sheer happiness which shines through all of the photos. Usually, I can’t remember what happened five minutes ago, but the photos jog my memory and it is almost as if I have gone back in time. I know I say this all the time, but I don’t think I will ever regret homeschooling my five. It has been the biggest of adventures, filled with incredibly happy times. It is not always easy, and it is rarely simple, but it has been worth every angst filled moment.

Going methodically through my blog also shows me that I probably have done enough with my younger two. I have often felt over the past few years (with Charlotte’s ill health) that I haven’t always done my little girls proud. My blog reassures me that I have done enough. Perhaps not excelled, but enough, I think.

The girls have begun a British maths curriculum. It’s funny because as much as Abigail LOVES science and finds science really easy to understand, she has not always found maths easy. When I began her on this new curriculum and allowed her to use a calculator for the first time, suddenly her maths has taken off! She gets through the units in a blink of the eye. Abs found mental maths really hard because she couldn’t memorise her facts easily, but apparently never struggled with the concepts. Now the calculator does the arithmetic she suddenly absolutely loves doing maths. Huh, who knew?

This week we have been learning about the ANZACs and the Gallipoli campaign including trying some ANZAC biscuits, which were delish!

We have also been reading a fabulous book about a veteran tortoise in the Gallipoli campaign. It is by Michael Foreman and is based on a true story:

I really recommend this book. It is a fast read, mainly because we were so interested, and it is beautifully illustrated.

I seem to be passing on my passion for gardening to my younger two, who always enjoy joining me outside. They have been nurturing some strawberry plants in our mini green house and yesterday planted them out in their hand decorated plant pot:

I am going to leave you with a couple of cutie photos of our nutty chocolate lab, Harvey. He just loves that old ball:

Have a great weekend everyone!
